It was five o’clock, June 9th, the day of William’s third birthday.
His friends had come with cards and presents, and were now
seated around the table laden with party food. William had spent
all morning making and decorating a crown to wear as he sat
excitedly at the head of the table. This crown represented his
achievements, his ability to create, and to imagine himself as
CHRIST’S crown had been of thorns cruelly pressed down by
soldiers as they stripped Him and nailed Him to the cross. A
crown representing His achievements in overcoming evil and
oppression, and opening up God’s kingdom for all believers.
He wore that crown with pain, but with endurance.
How precious and special was THAT CROWN!
